Subscriptions Regulation
Art.1 – Foundation and Organization
1.1. The International Short film Exhibition Med-Limes “Ai Confini del Mediterraneo” Images and stories from the borders of the Mediterranean Sea was born as a cinematographic exhibition with the purpose of sharing the understanding of different cultures, life journeys and societies of the Mediterranean area. In fact, the Mediterranean Sea is seen as a bridge between cultures and not as a wall/obstacle.
The exhibition places its attention on the relevant topics of our time. The tragedy of immigration, the shortage of water and food resources to meet the needs of millions of people, the discrimination against other cultures: those are the topics the cinematographic productions invited to participate in our festival are based on. The eighth edition of the exhibition will take place in Salerno on 15-16-17 May 2025.
1.2. The Short Film International Exhibition Med-Limes is promoted by FONMED – “Fondazione Sud per la Cooperazione e lo Sviluppo nel Mediterraneo” and it is open not only to productions from filmmakers in the Mediterranean area but also to international filmmakers from outside this region
Art. 2 – Objectives
2.1. – The general objectives that the Short film International Exhibition Med-Limes “Ai Confini del Mediterraneo” aims to pursue are:
use cinema as a tool to spread the understanding of different cultures and identities that co-exists in the Mediterranean area;
give attention to small production of new artists that have great cultural value;
focus on the 17 SDGs to spread their principles and the ways every individual can commit to the cause.
Art. 3 – Topics and activities of the Exhibition
3.1. The exhibition is exclusively open to short film made by directors whose nationality is admitted to the competition.
3.2. The topics of the exhibition are related to the 17 SDG’s (Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations):
- No Poverty
- Zero Hunger
- Good Health and Well-Being
- Quality Education
- Gender Equality
- Clean Water and Sanitation
- Affordable and Clean Energy
- Decent Work and Economic Growth
- Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
- Reduced Inequality
- Sustainable Cities and Communities
- Responsible Consumption and Production
- Climate Action
- Life Below Water
- Life on Land
- Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
- Partnerships for the Goals
Art. 4 – Registration
4.1. Registration for the exhibition is free. The film selection is curated by the Study Center of FONMED – “Fondazione Sud per la Cooperazione e lo Sviluppo nel Mediterraneo”.
4.2. The short films admitted to the exhibition – preferably with English and/or Italian subtitles – must be from the following countries: Spain, France, the Principality of Monaco, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Akrotiri and Dhekelia (United Kingdom), Gibraltar (United Kingdom).
4.3. It is necessary compile the following forms available to downlad at the website www.medlimes.org to register for the exhibition:
- REGISTRATION SHEET
- AUTHORIZATION to let the organization use the material for informational and promotional purposes related to the exhibition and general cultural and communication activities of the foundation.
4.4. Enter your personal details in the form on the website www.medlimes.org with a valid and working e-mail address, attaching the forms mentioned above. During the submission process the editorial team of the event will take care of sending you a link with a unique code which will enable you to upload your file video in a dedicated DROPBOX.
4.5. Click on the link you will receive by email.
4.6. Upload your file video naming it after the unique code you will have received.
4.7. As an alternative, it is possible to register through the platform www.filmfreeway.com .
4.8. The registration request is an official deal between the parts. The registration requests are valid only if correctly compiled with all the documentation needed and sent by 5 March 2025.
4.9. The organization does not take responsibility for any shipment issues, delayed deliveries, incorrect addresses or contents, video files unavailable online, technical issues and other independent causes that can hinder the correct registration process.
4.10. The material sent to the editorial team of the organization will not be returned and it will stay in the archives.
4.11. The documents and video material that stay available in the archives of FONMED could be used exclusively for non-profit, cultural purposes.
4.12. The selected films will be uploaded on YouTube as to use the MED-LIMES WEB APP.
Art. 5 – Sending films for screening
5.1. The organization will accept file videos in the following formats: MP4, AVI or M4V. Users will upload the files in the shared DROPBOX that will be available for log in after receiving the email mentioned above.
Art. 6 – Sections and activities of the Exhibition
6.1. The program of the Exhibition involves the following sections:
Short film competition
-Short films made by directors of the countries admitted to the exhibition on the topics related to the SDG’s (Sustainable Development Goals) and to the cultures of the Mediterranean countries.
-“Med Overseas”: Short films made by directors from countries outside the Mediterranean area.
Out of competition
Short films on topics related to the exhibition, from different countries around the world, sent after the deadline or that, for whatever reason, have not been selected for the final cut of the competition, that still talk about the topics of the Exhibition. The selection is delegated to the unquestionable judgment of FONMED’s Study Center.
Special section
Together with the cinematographic program, during the exhibition days, there will be other projects like photo exhibitions and forums on the themes of Eco-Regioni – Bio-distretti of the 5 continents, with guests, directors and personalities invited to the event.
Art. 7 – Juries and Awards
7.1. Within the framework of the Exhibition, FONMED members of the Official Jury, made by cinema and culture personalities, and journalists, and Young Jury made of people up to 25 years. The Official Jury and the Young Jury will have the task to assign the awards of point 7.2. a), b), and c). The award of point 7.2 can be assigned to personalities or institutions that have made a difference with activities related to the values of FONMED, and it will be given by the President. While the award 7.2 can be assigned by the Popular Jury that will take part in the event.
7.2. The official awards to be assigned to the winning short films are:
a) “Med-Limes, Ai Confini del Mediterraneo –Official Jury best short film 2024” assigned by the Official Jury;
b) “Med-Limes, Ai Confini del Mediterraneo – Young Jury best short film 2024” assigned by the Young Jury;
c) “Med-Limes, Ai Confini del Mediterraneo – Special Award” assigned by the Official Jury;
d) “Med-Limes, Ai Confini del Mediterraneo – Mediterranean Award Alfonso D’Antonio Uomo di Mare” assigned by FONMED;
e) “Med-Limes, Ai Confini del Mediterraneo – Popular Jury Award” assigned by the public who participates at the event.
f) “Med-Limes, Ai Confini del Mediterraneo – Best Documentary Award” assigned by the Official Jury;
g) “Med-Limes, Ai Confini del Mediterraneo – Best Animated Short Award” assigned by the Official Jury;
h) “Med-Limes, Ai Confini del Mediterraneo – OVERSEAS Award” assigned by the Official Jury.
7.3. FONMED’s Study Center will select at least 25-30 works among all the submitted short films.
7.4. The Awards consist of Plaques and Diplomas. Plaques will be presented to attendees during the award ceremony, while non-attendees will receive a certificate of award.
7.5. There will not be any money prize and/or award of more than 150 euros of value.
7.6. Plates for individual topics could also be assigned.
Art. 8 – Public entry and screenings
8.1. The screening of the short films will take place in the city of Salerno.
8.2. In case of sanitary emergency, the screening will be exclusively on the MED-LIMES WEB APP and uploaded on the YouTube channel.
8.3. Participation and entry to the exhibition is free.
Art. 9 – Press
9.1. Journalists and bloggers can ask for press credits.
9.2. Credits requests have to be sent not after 13 May 2025.
9.3. Credits requests have to be presented on letterhead, signed and sent to the email address info@fonmed.it.
Art. 10 – Privacy and responsibility
10.1. The participant to the International Short Film Exhibition Med-Limes “Ai Confini del Mediterraneo” declares to know and accept the modalities of data processing operated by FONMED for Privacy management as published on the website www.fonmed.it and gives, as of now, unconditional consent to the usage of personal data for all the initiative related to the exhibition, as for the law 30 June 2003, n. 196 and s.m.i. on privacy protection, of Regolamento Europeo Privacy (GDPR 2016/679) and in line with the active regulations since May 25 and s.m.i.
10.2. The participant declares to have full legal capacity of the film and to authorize the public screening without asking for any compensation, taking off any present or future responsibility from the organization.
10.3. The participant declares to know and share the statutory purposes of FONMED “Fondazione Sud per la Cooperazione e lo Sviluppo nel Mediterraneo” that are published on the website www.fonmed.it.
10.4. With registration to the Exhibition, the participant implicitly accepts from article 1 to article 11 of the present guideline and takes responsibility of the content of their own work. Moreover, the participant declares and grants that the rights of their work are totally their own and they do not damage any other rights.
Art. 11 – Variations and edits
11.1. The Organization and the Exhibition’s Editorial team, have the faculty to modify or ratify the rules of the present guideline – included the cancellation of one or more sections – notifying the parts.
11.2. For any controversial matter, the courtroom of reference is the Courtroom of Salerno (Tribunale di Salerno).
